July 2015--Stitch Fix #1
My friend Shanti enticed me into the world of Stitch Fix. I have been seeing it pop up on my news feed through friends, but never really truly thought I would try it. That is, until I was finally a size 14. Since Christmas of 2014, I have lost 60 pounds. I have about 40 more I want to lose, but it is a marathon, not a sprint!
My first fix was scheduled for Monday, July 27. It arrived on Saturday, July 25. That was a nice little surprise. 
My clothes came bundled up in tissue paper. I also got a clutch that I failed to get a picture of. It was wrapped in its own little tissue.
Each fix comes with a style card. It gives suggestions on how to wear your pieces. For the style challenged, like me, it is nice to see how things should be worn. I have no style, so this is helpful.
Piece #1 is a striped jersey dress. Size Large. The material is awesome, but it didn't fit me well. RETURN
Piece #2 is a v-neck blouse. It was sheer/flowy material. Didn't fit me well in the arms or hips. I like the colors, but just wasn't a good fit for me. RETURN
Piece #3 is a Market and Spruce Corinna Striped Dolman blouse. Navy and Cream. The blouse fit me well. Loved the soft (hand wash only) material. I tried it on several times. Walked around the house in it...and on the last try on found a 2" hole in the left sleeve. It wasn't meant to be. RETURN
Finally #4 Loveappella Ginger Knit Top. Anyone who knows me, knows I am not a pink girly-girl. I don't think I have any pink in my closet...until now. The pink is only on the sleeves. The fit is amazing and the material is super soft. KEEP!
So my first Fix was a 1/5. I am willing to try some new pieces. I'll try a couple of more fixes. I suggest others try it too! If you are interested in trying it out, us my link so that I can get credit for it. Than I can try more cool clothes! Shipping is free both ways. You return what you don't like/want. The only guaranteed cost is a $20 style fee, but you get to use that as credit if you buy a minimum of one piece. So, it was worth the $20 for me!

Life can be so overwhelming
The last year is finally catching up with me, I think.
It's hard to believe that my mom has been for almost 10 months. Sometimes it seems like longer; other times I feel like we just talked on the phone yesterday. I still want to pick up the phone numerous times a week just to chat. I used to call her between work and home at the end of the day just to catch up. Or when i have to drive farther distances to see the dr. or something, I just want to call her. Or to share the trials we are going through with Case.
During my routine sonogram at 20 and 24 weeks pregnant, the sono tech found a strange area in Case's lung. That led to more sonograms, MRI, echocardiogram, and countless visits to the perinatologist and my regular OB. He has was is referred to as a CCAM/CPAM--congenital cystic (or pulmonary) adenomatoid malformation. The CCAM is mild in comparison to how big/bad it could have been. The CCAM is confined to the lower right lobe of his lung. That is a good thing in a sense, but it consumes all of the lower right lobe.
We met with the surgeon on Monday at St Louis Children's Hospital. SLCH isa regional lung center for the midwest...so hopefully they know what they are talking about. During her examination on Monday, she found an inguinal hernia. One more thing that will require surgery soon.
Case had a CT scan done January 16 under sedation. My poor little monkey has already been through too much. The CT scan shows that his lower right lobe will have to be completely removed. That surgery will take several hours and require a stay of at least a week in the hospital.
After our appointment on Monday, I had a pretty positive outlook...now I'm starting to freak out. They are going to CUT on my baby (twice!). I don't like the idea of either surgery to tell the truth! We want to have the hernia surgery done soon and wait until summer for the lung surgery. Hernia should be 24 hours or less in the hospital, so it will be easily done on a Friday. Lung will also be done on a Friday since that is when the dr. does her surgeries.
This may be my venting platform for the next few months until we get to the end of the stress and surgeries!

It's hard to believe
that it is February already. Where is time going? I shall not complain though--this means we are closer to summer. The weather in central Illinois has been crazy mild this "winter." It feels more like spring. I'm waiting for a huge blizzard and ice storm to blow through, but I am not sure even that will happen.
Wade turned 5 last week and celebrated at Chuck E Cheese. He took four of his buddies with him. I am pretty sure they had a blast, and I didn't have to clean up a single thing. All in all it was a good time. Case slept through most of it on my shoulder.
Case is doing well. We see the pediatric surgeon at St. Louis Children's Hospital on February 20. Surgery may have to be done sooner rather than later. The cyst in his right lung is 4cm by 2.5cm. It may be growing, we aren't sure. He has a cold and nasty cough right now. He sleeps in his carseat in his crib and we are doing breathing treatments 5-6 times a day. He doesn't mind them too much, thank goodness! It is hard to believe he is 3 months already!

Halloween
I'm only about a month behind. Wade decided he wanted to be a rock start his year for Halloween. His dad decided he would participate as well.
Shane's sister and two of her kids came to visit Halloween weekend. It was a beautiful day and the kids (including Shane) got out and rode our ATC and dirt bikes...Love this picture!

It's been a while
June 8? That was a LONG time ago. Update:
Summer should have been relaxing and was not. It was filled with mom's estate and doctor appointments. Mom's house was overwhelming. I had the help of my husband and two of mom's dear friends, and my friend Holly. Otherwise, that's it. We hauled out xmore than twenty bags of clothes. It was a sad undertaking for me. I don't know that anyone really gets that, but I was going through my mom's life piece by piece.
We did fit in a couple of trips to Knight's Action Park. We got season passes last summer and have them for next summer already.
Doctor's appointments increased in July when my OB found a spot on Case's lung. That began the journey of perinatologist appointments and regular OB appointments and echo-cardiograms and MRI. Case has a CCAM (http://mnneo.org/info_CCAM.php?thisPage=parents). It could have been severe or mild, but we wouldn't know until birth.
Then of course, school started.
Once school started I still had weekly and sometimes twice a week dr. appointments. That was time consuming and overwhelming.
October 21, Case Russell arrived via repeat c-section. Since then, that has been my life. BABY. He is probably colicky--like Wade was. All in all it is bittersweet to not have Case know my mom or her know him. I'll probably forever be sad that she won't know him and he won't know her.
I share the picture of me and Case even though my face is HUGE. The dr. gave me Toradol...which is part of the aspirin family. I am allergic to aspirin. So my first four hours of Case's life were spent with THAT!

Summer time
Usually summer is a time of relaxation and rejuvenation for me.
This summer is isn't going to be either, I don't think. Mom's house needs to be cleaned out. Many of the items I have NO stinking clue what to do with. I have hauled out bags of trash and bagged up bags of clothing and linens. Now what do I do with the rest of her life? Most of it is not worth much, so who will want it? Some of the bigger pieces need to be sold...but again, how do I go about doing that? There isn't enough for an estate sale.
The list of things I have to do as executor is exhausting. I spent 2+ hours in Jacksonville running errands yesterday. Banks, insurance office, vet, lawyer, funeral home, etc. Then I spent another 3 hours at her house bagging up clothing and linens. It seems to be a never ending battle. I think many items will go to the garbage. I'm donating a lot to Goodwill/Salvation Army.
I'm thankful for my friends and cousins for helping me clean. Without them, I wouldn't be able to do it. It shows me who my real family is.
