School is winding down!

The school year is winding down. Only 3 more days with Joey! WAHOO. Joey is my problem study hall idiot. He knows how to push my buttons so he does!

I finished grading all of my essays today. J did not finish hers! She got a 60%! How stupid is that! This is honors English. I'm disappointed in her! I'm also disappointed in T. He didn't use his words. I know that sounds very elementary, but it isn't. He said something about a "student would say that blows" That is not honors English.

L. She is past her 5 days absences. She thinks she can get credit for the work regardless, which isn't the case at ALL! Zeros. She is not that special! Even if he is her BFF.

I haven't been impressed with AI this year. David Cook is ok, but David A is a teenager and not that good. His voice is still changing.

Should I go to J'ville this weekend? Or not? Shane is going fishing all day Saturday; I'm sure my mom has to work. MIL wants to see W. She would keep him. I want to go to church on Sunday though...so that would make that difficult. decisions decisions.

My girl Ashley needs some prayers. Nicki and Mattson do too!

My brother leaves for Afghanistan in less than 2 months. Not good news! Not at all. I am gong to look at the calendar and get down there to see him before he goes. Even if I have to make a fast trip of it by myself...which we all know won't happen. Wade would love to see his cousins too, as I'm sure they want to see him. Grace says he is "supper yummy cute"!

I knew it!

I didn't figure I would keep up with this blog, and I was right. All the people who need to know about me, already keep in touch with me.

Just some randomness--

Garage sale Saturday, no sitter to help with Wade though.
Pennock has cats to give away--Dorito and Cheeto
11 days of school left
Cheryl has a cute belly bump!
Shane is in the garage with some guy trying to get parts from him, and it was his night to put Wade to bed. I guess that means he will have to do bathtime tomorrow ;)
I want another baby...but not soon.

Snow day....errr Ice day?

We are off today and I'm not sure why. I will take it, but it looks fine out my front door. We were off yesterday for Casmir Pulaski day (it's an Illinois thing!). Apparently there is some ice on the roads in the southern part of our county. Of course, I was already up and dressed, fixing my lunch, and getting ready to head out the door by the time I found out school was out. Some days we get the call at 5:00 other days at 6:30. I much prefer 5:00 so I can roll over, turn of the alarm and stay in bed. Wade gets to sleep in this way too...but not much because I think I hear him!

Wade was supposed to get his TB test today. I'm not sure if we will venture to town to get it or not. I may just call and put it off until tomorrow. It has to be read 2-3 days later. SO? Not sure what we will do. I'm a homebody, so I imagine we will stay in.

Shane is out driving in this crud...so I hope he stays safe.

My mom is headed to Hawaii for 2 weeks today. My niece and nephew should be headed out the door to get their tonsils and adenoids out. Keep them all in your thoughts.

Nothing else exciting going on!

I'm pretty sure I'm dying!

I get a head cold or two every year, no big deal. This is the mother of all head colds though! I am miserable. I have taken Tylenol Severe Head Congestion, Mucinex D, Tylenol Head Congestion and NOTHING works! I am pretty sure my nose is going to fall off my face. It will most likely dry up and fall of. It is red and I look like Rudolph. Wade is just getting over this cold; Shane is just getting it. Somehow I seem to get the worst of it though.

Otherwise we are good! :D I am looking for about 10 hours of sleep tonight! Wish me luck!

They say deaths come in 3s

If that is the case, I guess my three are up.

First it was Tom. I haven't made many friends here, but I have several acquaintances including a mother, daughter and son in law. The mother is my allergy shot nurse; daughter a fellow teacher; SIL our school computer geek. Tom had cancer and I think his life probably flashed before his eyes rather quickly. October to January...that's it. I have heard that pancreatic cancer is like that. There are no indicators or signs, so you might as well bend over and kiss your ass goodbye...for lack of a better euphemism.

Next was Pat. She has known me my entire life. Pat's husband Larry and my dad met at Western Illinois University, then went on to teach at Illinois School for the Deaf together for 30+ years. That's a long friendship! Pat had cancer too. Another October to January journey. I think she went down hill fast. I am glad she is not hurting anymore and I imagine she's watching over us.

Finally, Katie. Katie was one of my students 3 years ago. She hated to read. By the end of the school year, she was reading a book a week. As a high school teacher I don't get many gifts from students. Katie and her parents got me a card and gift card for barnes and noble at the end of that school year. I had opened up the gift of books to her. Her parents were thankful. I let my students read my personal books...and Katie couldn't get enough of my Lurlene McDaniel collection from when I was her age. Katie's death wasn't cancer. She was in a car accident. The details are not all out yet, but it has to be tough for her parents. She is an only child. RIP Katie.

Last night when Shane and I were talking about Katie's death, I reiterated to him that I didn't want an only child. Not that another child would make the death of one any less painful...but I don't want a child to be alone once WE (shane and I) are gone. Is that selfish on my part? It may be...but selfish for Wade at this point.

02 February 2008

It was a hard day!

I went to Pat's visitation yesterday. I met my brother and his wife. Seeing Larry and the boys wasn't too hard. I am sad that Pat is gone, but she isn't hurting anymore and she is with God. I think she is with my Charlee too. (My student who died in June). I think they will get along fabulously!

The visitation was like a family reunion. All of the people my dad used to work with were there. I hadn't seen some of them for a long time. Dad retired 5 years ago and a lot of people went with him--the state offered an awesome retirement package that year.

Dad, Lynne (his wife), my brother and his wife and I all went out to Godfather's for dinner. We sat and talked for about 2 hours. It was nice. They were all staying in a hotel and going to the service this morning. I went on home.

Today is Wade's birthday party. It will be SUPER small. Maybe 8 people at the MOST. I don't think Shane's sister is showing up but if she does, that'll add 5!

30 January 2008

I've been tagged!

Ok. So my girls at LuvBugs tagged me. I have to tell 6 random facts about me!

1. I love to travel. I've been to all but 4 states west of the Mississippi River.

2. Sometimes when I should be working or cleaning house, I read. I'm addicted to books.

3. My men are my life. Shane, Wade and Murphy, too!

4. My friends are what keeps me sane. I don't know what I would do without them.

5. I like where I live, but I don't like the town where I live. It is too uppity. After living her for almost 3 1/2 years, I still don't have a single friend here!

6. I have baby fever!

In the beginning...

I think have have done a blog before, but for the life of me I cannot remember what it is :)

Tomorrow is my baby's first birhday. It is hard to believe time flies so quickly. I cannot fathom how he was just born like yesterday and now he is one.

I know there is an angel watching over him. My dear friend Pat passed away today. I hear that deaths come in threes. 2 down one to go...just hate the thought of another.

I'm not sure how often I will be able to update, but I'll try to keep up. Since blogspot is blocked at work (imagine that) I will have little time to get on!
